The benchmarks focus on three different theoretical fields. The theoretical prediction of forming limit curves, the modeling of spring back under the influence of stretching forces generated by the complex deformation state induced by draw beads and on the press hardening process which recently was introduced for crash resistant body components.

BM 1 - Virtual Forming Limit Curves

BM1
This benchmark is provided by the BMW Group. It analyzes the theoretical and numerical prediction of beginning material instability by local necking during forming of ductile sheets with various thicknesses. The objective of this benchmark is to verify the applicability of existing or new failure criteria for this prediction.

BM 2 - Virtual Drawbead Models ("S-Rail-08")

BM2
This benchmark is provided by Daimler AG. The objective of this benchmark is to evaluate the capability of the simulation to model different drawbead scenarios with respect to the prediction of drawing and springback. For this benchmark, the well known S-Rail was chosen.

BM 3 - Continuous Press Hardening

MB3
This benchmark is provided by Audi. The aim is the exact virtual modelling of the continuous press hardening process of a B-Pillar with the prediction of failure by cracks and the local degree of hardness.
